Los Angeles, CA – October 12, 2022 – »Æ¹ÏÊÓƵ. Discovery (Nasdaq: WBD) today announced that its Writers Workshop and Directors Workshop, which previously resided with »Æ¹ÏÊÓƵ. Television, will now be housed within the company’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion unit, in partnership with WBTV, upon the completion of the current 2022–23 WBTV Writers Workshop class. The DEI team, which recently announced its new leadership structure under Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer Asif Sadiq, will grow the Workshop programs through its existing Pipeline Programs division led by »Æ¹ÏÊÓƵ. Discovery DEI Vice President Grace Moss and overseen by recently elevated »Æ¹ÏÊÓƵ. Discovery DEI US Lead Karen Horne.
The rebranded »Æ¹ÏÊÓƵ. Discovery Writers and Directors Workshop will build on the successful program initiated by WBTV and expand it across the entire WBD content portfolio. WBTV will continue to be an important partner for the Workshop, with the Pipeline Programs team collaborating with the studio to ensure the widest access possible for the participating cohorts. Importantly, while the original workshops were not developed with a unique diversity lens, they will now operate with a specific DEI focus.
